Quazi T Islam, MD, a Family practitioner as well as a Nuclear Medicine physician expressed his commitment to continue serving the Barneveld area.
Dr. Islam has been serving this community for the past 3 years, now started a solo practice in the same area. His new office, Best Care Family Medical PLLC is conveniently located at the Hinge Center, 8112 State Route 12, Barneveld, NY 13304.
Dr. Islam has attended Rajshahi Medical College in Bangladesh, where he received his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery Degree. He spent one year as Rotating Intern at the Medical College Hospital under Rajshahi University.
He completed a two-year residency and served as chief resident in his final year of training in Nuclear Medicine at University of Connecticut Health Center, Connecticut. He completed his internship in preliminary Surgery at North Shore University Hospital (North Shore-LIJ), Manhasset, New York. He has also completed three years of residency training in Family Practice at Louisiana State University Health Science Center –EA Conway division, Monroe, Louisiana.
For about 5 years, he worked in the public and private sector as an Emergency Medical Officer while simultaneously pursuing a general medical practice. Dr. Islam also worked as a clinical research assistant at New Britain General Hospital, New Britain, Connecticut. Following his post graduate training, he was an emergency room physician in North East Louisiana, attending physician at North East Health Center and subsequently joined the faculty of Family Medicine at the Louisiana State University Health Science Center-Shreveport.
And very recently, he has worked as Adirondack Community Physician at Barneveld Medical office of Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare prior to opening his independent medical practice. He is also a published author of many articles in medical journal.
Recently he was awarded 2008 Service Recognition Award by healthy living partnership of Oneida, Herkimer and Madison County and was selected as America’s top family doctor 2008 by Consumers’ Research Council of America.
Although, from now he will practice as an independent medical practitioner at his new office, he will continue to have admitting privilege at the St. Luke’s hospital as well as St. Elizabeth Medical Center and share his call with Dr. Ulahannan and Dr. Pachikara of New Hartford.
